ShellSaver

ShellSaver is a Mac OSX screen saver that interfaces with shell scripts and command line applications to display useful information in the saver window. Some interesting uses:

  • Fortunes
  • RSS Feeds
  • Clocks/Timers
  • Any other information that can be formatted to stdout

Currently tested commands:

/usr/bin/fortune -a
/bin/date
/usr/bin/tail FILENAME

If you don’t have fortune installed try installing with Fink:

sudo apt-get install fortune-mod
